About Us

WORLD BIRD GUIDES

It began with a shared moment of wonder, echoed in conversations between guides across continents. We are a global family of the world's most dedicated bird guides, from the Amazon rainforest to the Arctic tundra. We came together because we believe that exceptional bird guiding is more than a service—it is a craft, a form of stewardship, and a powerful catalyst for conservation.

This belief forged our twofold promise: a commitment to travellers seeking authentic experiences, and a deeper commitment to the birds themselves.

From Uganda to Peru, Scotland to Australia, we discovered a common desire: a love for our craft, a profound concern for the future of birds, and the need for a global community to call home. That's why we built the World Bird Guides Society—a community created by guides, for guides.

We are the storytellers, scientists, and patient observers who weave the connection between people and nature. We founded this society to be a home for our profession—a place to champion excellence, share our collective knowledge, and celebrate the deep-seated joy of birding.

Our commitment to professionalism isn't a list of rules; it's our North Star. It is our promise to you that your guide is not only an expert, but an ethical and passionate host. It is our promise to each other to constantly elevate our craft.

Our purpose is grounded in a simple truth: the future of birds rests on humanity’s connection to them. A great guide doesn't just find a bird; they illuminate its world, share its story, and forge a bond that lasts a lifetime. By promoting and shaping world-class birding safaris, we transform this passion into tangible protection, fueling local economies and directly supporting conservation.

And when we join our voices, we become the advocates for guides in the field and for the habitats that cannot speak for themselves. We work to ensure the cause of conservation is heard where it matters most.

Whether you guide for a living or live for the next great sighting, you have a place here.
